EU member states that decide to ban the use of EU-approved genetically modified feed will be responsible for the impact of their decision, particularly on socio-economic factors, jobs creation and growth, and the situation of their farmers and operators. The reminder came from EU Health Commissioner Vytenis Andriukaitis at a meeting of the European Parliament’s Environment Committee in June. He was discussing European Commission proposals to allow national restrictions on the use of GM crops and products that hold EU approval for import, processing and use in food and feed.
