A group of members of the European Parliament has presented a motion of censure on the European Commission because of its failure to meet the deadline for establishing criteria for identifying endocrine disruptors (EDs). Agrochemical and biocide legislation required such criteria by December 2013. The motion has been signed by enough MEPs to trigger a debate by the full Parliament at its next session. If passed, the entire Commission body would have to resign. However, there have only ever been eight censure motions in the past and none have been adopted.
