Forward power assessments in major US electric grids indicate coal will remain a top generating fuel despite major inroads natural gas has made in electricity generation this year. Forward power assessments this year have fallen less dramatically than natural gas forward curves. In some mid- Atlantic and midwestern markets, they have risen even though natural gas sets prices on the margin there.
