Argentina's largest oil and gas company, YPF, announced a major shale oil discovery Tuesday. YPF Chief Executive Sebastian Eskenazi said the company had discovered a 150 million barrel shale oil deposit in the Nuequen basin, some 650 miles southwest of Buenos Aires. The find, in the Lomo la Lata area of the Vaca Muerta shale formation, which extends across the Neuquen basin, is equivalent to 35% of YPF's current crude reserves, Fernandez said. Federal Planning Minister Julio de Vido said the find was equivalent to 8% of the country's oil reserves.
