The Deep South is bracing for flooding along the Mississippi River, the likes of which have not been seen since the Great Flood of 1927. This poses the threat of a major disruption of tanker traffic and could also have a direct impact on refineries in Louisiana that line the mighty river. The flooding is being caused by a combination of snow melt and heavy rains in northern states drained by the Mississippi.
