UK-listed EnQuest has given the go-ahead for the $850 million development of the Alma and Galia fields in the UK North Sea. Alma — discovered in 1971 and formerly called Argyll — was the UK's first oil field but was decom- missioned in 2008 because of low prices. The project — which is still subject to regulatory approval — will consist of seven production wells and two water injection wells tied back to the upgraded Uisge Gorm floating production, storage and offloading (FSPO) vessel. "The project reuses existing facilities and is designed to ensure that aban- donment costs will be minimized," EnQuest Chief Executive Amjad Bseisu said.
