Gasoline and crude futures in the US surged higher Tuesday on fears that shipments at Louisiana refineries could be disrupted due to potential flooding from the Mississippi River, which has reached nearrecord levels. June gasoline rose 10.13¢ to $3.3797 per gallon and is up nearly 29¢ this week -as well as being up from $2.1726 a year ago. Nymex crude for June delivery rose $1.33 to $103.88 per barrel, while June Brent trading on ICE Exchange in London gained $1.73 to $117.63.
