Russia's Gazprom and long-standing Ger- man partner BASF are deepening coopera- tion by swapping upstream assets in Russia and the North Sea. The Russian gas giant and BASF upstream subsidiary Wintershall said they signed a framework agreement on Friday setting out the terms. These envisage the possible joint develop- ment of two additional areas of the Achi- movskoye deep layer of West Siberia's giant Ure- ngoi gas field. The Germans are set to take 25% plus one share in Blocks 4 and 5 in the acreage, with the option of bumping this up to 50%.
