Thailand's National Energy Policy Committee reduced diesel subsidies to 4.70 baht/liter (16?liter) effective Friday, taking advantage of a slight drop in oil prices earlier in the week, Thai newspapers quoted Energy Minister Wannarat Chan-nukul as saying. The cut of 0.30 baht/liter still leaves a liter of diesel costing less than 30 baht (99? - the maximum set by the government, which started injecting money from a public oil fund in December to cushion the population against rising oil prices (IOD Dec.17,p7).
