UK oil and gas production tumbled last year, hit by a combination of maintenance work and slowdowns at aging fields. Output of crude oil and natural gas liquids sank 17.4% to 52 million metric tons, or just over 1 million b/d, the lowest since the 1970s, the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) said, continuing the trend seen since 2000. Net imports jumped to 21.1 million tons from 8.8 million tons in 2010, while oil demand rose 2.1% to 74.7 million tons.
