Petronet LNG will start up its second and India's fourth LNG import terminal at Kochi in the southern state of Kerala before the end of this year's second quarter, a move that should help further ease the country's gas supply shortfall. The 5 million ton per year terminal will initially operate below capacity, Petronet said, as the pipelines needed to transport gas to end-users are not ready. State-owned Gail last week started up India's third LNG import terminal, another 5 million ton/yr facility at Ratnagiri in the western state of Maharashtra (PIW Jan.11'13).
