Hess said it has agreed to sell its energy marketing business to Direct Energy -- a subsidiary of UK-based Centrica -- for just over $1 billion as part of previously announced plans to sell off all of its downstream assets. The New York-based company's energy marketing business supplies natural gas and electricity to 23,000 commercial, industrial and small business customers in 18 states in the eastern US.
