The European Parliament has backed the new European Commission executive team. Parliamentarians voted on Wednesday by 423 votes in favor, 209 against, with 67 abstentions for the team of 27 as presented by commission President-elect Jean-Claude Juncker. Addressing parliament in the French city of Strasbourg before the vote, Juncker said: "Maros Sefcovic, an experienced member of the outgoing Commission, will be vicepresident in charge of Energy Union." Slovenian former Prime Minister Alenka Bratusec, who was originally nominated, was rejected by parliament earlier this month (IOD Oct.10'14).
