China National Offshore Oil Corp. (CNOOC) has appointed Wu Guangqi as its new president following the promotion of his predecessor, Yang Hua, to the chairman's position, International Oil Daily understands. Rivals Sinopec and China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) also need to select new presidents following last week's top-level reshuffle (IOD May5'15). The 57-year-old Wu --currently vice president at CNOOC --is not thought to boast a vast amount of experience in offshore oil and gas exploration and production, having mostly been involved in administrative work at the state-run company. But he brings to the job a reputation for clean management, having served as secretary of CNOOC's discipline inspection committee since 1994 --an important factor in light of the ongoing anticorruption probe that has taken down two CNOOC LNG executives (IOD Apr.6'15).
