Norwegian engineering firm Aker Solutions reported higher revenues during the first quarter although operational earnings fell as a result of high costs. With oil prices losing about half their value from last year's peak, oilfield services companies have come under severe pressure as the majors attempt to rein in their spending. As a result, rates for some services, particularly for activities offshore have already seen dramatic declines over recent months.
