East Timor has launched a new arbitration procedure to dispute Australia's claims to absolute rights, including taxation rights, on the petroleum export pipeline running from the Bayu Undan gas and condensate field in the East Timor Sea to Australia's Darwin. East Timor has grown increasingly vocal about the field that is located in the Joint Petroleum Development Area, which is 90% owned by Australia and 10% by East Timor.
