With Brent retreating from its seven-week rally, there is a general consensus that speculative investors drove prices to current levels of around $65, but analysts are divided about how traders will play the market heading forward. The upward momentum held for seven weeks as traders maintained long positions, which sent Brent futures to yearly highs of $69.63 during intraday trading last week. Data released by ICE on May 5 shows another consecutive record-breaking week as net long positions rose by 11,389 contracts to 288,727 lots.
