China has started construction of pipelines to receive Russian gas under the 38 Bcm/yr contract signed last year, as Gazprom prepares to sign a second gas supply contract with China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) within six or seven months. The ceremony to kick off construction was held in China's Heihe, in the province of Heilongjiang, from where the first joint of the pipeline was welded (IOD Mar.10'15).
