Saudi Aramco notched the most discoveries in its history in 2014, helping to prove up almost 1 billion barrels of crude and over 5 trillion cubic feet of gas, the company said in its annual report released Monday. The state giant, which in the midst of a management change, said it made five gas strikes and three oil discoveries last year, confirming earlier reports (IOD Mar.4'15). Gas finds were in the Rub al-Khali desert, and one oil find was close to the border with the United Arab Emirates, increasing the firm's fields to 129 (see map).
