The Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Company (Takreer) Ruwais refinery expansion project is "progressing well," CEO Jasem Ali al-Sayegh, told the Abu Dhabi International Downstream conference. Takreer is doubling the 417,000 b/d capacity at Ruwais, some 250 km from Abu Dhabi, amid a replacement of feedstock from onshore Murban crude to sour offshore Upper Zakum crude. Commercial production started in February and 120,000 tons of naphtha was shipped in April, al-Sayegh said.
