Northern Petroleum said today that it will be ramp-ing up activities offshore Italy this year as itpushes ahead with the development of theRovesti and Giove oil fields and looks to exploreits acreage offshore Sicily.The company said the upside potential andvalue of its Italian projects is significant, “and of adifferent order of magnitude to the ventures inThe Netherlands, so increasingly our focus andpriorities will be aimed towards them.”Northern and partner Shell Italia have mappedand interpreted their 2010 3D seismic survey onfour permits in the Thrust and Fold Belt offshoreSicily.
