Cooper Energy has spudded the Butlers-9 oil appraisal well in PPL 245 on the western flank of the Cooper Basin, South Australia. The probe started drilling on 6 December and is currently drilling ahead at 139m (456ft) in a 12.25- inch surface hole. Butlers-9 is located 0.68km north-northeast of Butlers-3 and 0.92km north-northwest of Butlers- 1. The well is being drilled vertically to a total depth of 1,804m (5,919ft) in the Pre-Permian Basement and is anticipated to complete within six days.
