Once viewed as 'The Bread Basket of Africa', Zimbabwe has had a significant fall from grace since early 2000, when hyperinflation, political instability and the total collapse of the economy deterred investors previously upbeat on opportunities in the country. One of the industries that formed the backbone of the Zimbabwe economy in its heyday was mining; however, it took the brunt of the developments that contributed to the country's collapse as an African powerhouse.
