Brussels--The European Commission (EC) has approved under the European Union Merger Regulation the proposed joint venture between Shell Brazil Holding and Cosan SA Industria e Comercio of Brazil for the production of ethanol and power from sugar cane, and the supply, distribution and retail of transportation fuels (PCN, 30 Aug 2010, p 2).
