Philadelphia—Sunoco plans to exit the refining business and has started the process to sell its Philadelphia and Marcus Hook, Penn., refineries, a move that follows the recent sale of its petrochemical assets (PCN, 22-29 Aug 2011, p 1). Sunoco said it will pursue all options to sell the refineries, but if a suitable transaction cannot be implemented, it plans to idle the main processing units at the facilities in July 2012.
