Ludwigshafen- BASF said it has completed and started up an expansion of its Ludwigshafen, Germany, methanesulfonic acid facility, tripling its capacity to 30,000 t/y, which is marketed under the Lutropur trademark. "We are currently evaluating further options to satisfy the fast growing markets (for Lutropur) worldwide," said Gabriel Tanbourgi, president, care chemicals. "Our next step will be in the region Asia Pacific as v/e are planning the construction of a new methanesulfonic acid plant in Malaysia."
