Calgary-Nova Chemicals' board of directors has approved full funding of approximately $l-billion for an expansion of its Joffre, Alberta, polyethylene (PE) capacity (PCN, 4 July 2011, p 1). The expansion, referred to as the "R3 Project," includes a world-scale PE reactor that will add between 950-million to 1.1-billion lbs/yr of linear low-density PE capacity. Ethylene feedstock will come from Nova's Joffre complex.
