Essen—Evonik Industries said it is introducing a new generation of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plasticizers and expanding its portfolio to include phthalate-free and bio-based plasticizers. With an investment "in the double-digit million euro range," the company expects to begin production of phthalate-free plasticizer 1,2-cyclohexane dicarboxylic acid di-isononyl ester at a new facility at the Marl Chemical Park in Germany during the second half of next year. Construction on the 40,000-t/y plant was started this past summer.
