Jubail—The newly created Saudi Butanol Co. has awarded Daelim Industrial a $295-million order for construction of what has been identified as "the world's largest butanol plant" (PCN, 7 Jan 2013, p 1). Saudi Butanol was established as a joint venture of Saudi Kayan Petrochemical Co., Sadara Chemical Co. and Saudi Acrylic Acid Co. (SAAC) to build a plant for the production of 330,000 t/y of n-butanol and 11,000 t/y of isobu-tanol in Jubail, Arabia.
