Freeport— BASF and Yara announced "good progress" on their plan to jointly construct a world-scale ammonia plant on the U.S. Gulf Coast, making a decision to locate the project in Free-port, Texas, with a design capacity of 750,000 t/y (PCN, 21 Oct 2013, p 4). The venture, subject to final approval from BASF and Yara's respective boards of directors, will be built at an existing BASF site in Freeport and be based on a hydrogen-synthesis process. The two companies said further details of the planned joint venture are currently under discussion.
