Anhui—M&G International and Anhui Guozhen Co. Ltd. have entered into a Sino-foreign joint venture to convert between 970,000 t/y and 1.3-million t/y of agricultural residues into cellulosic ethanol, glycols and by-products in Fuyang City, Anhui Province, China. The new joint venture, Anhui M&G Guozhen Green Refinery Co. Ltd., will use Beta Renewables' Proesa technology to convert biomass, which is being supplied by Guozhen under a long-term fixed price agreement. Novozymes will provide the needed enzymes.
