Deerficld—CF Industries said wet weather has delayed progress on the ammonia, urea and urea ammonium nitrate (UAN) expansion projects in Donaldsonville, La. (PCN, 22 July 2014, p 4). CF is investing $2.1-billion to add 3,300 t/d of ammonia, 3,500 t/d of urea and 4,500 t/d of UAN capacity at the site. Weather conditions during the second quarter tripled the lost work time that would normally be expected, CF explained. As a result, the Donaldsonville urea plant is expected to start up in the third quarter or early in the fourth quarter of this year, with the UAN plant to follow later in the fourth quarter of 2015 and the ammonia plant in early 2016.
