Riyadh— Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (Sabic) recorded a net profit of SR 6.17-billion for the 2015 second quarter, a marginal decrease of 4.49% from the year earlier quarter, but a 57% increase over the first quarter of this year. Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Yousef Al-Benyan attributed the strong results to the company's focus on reliable operations, reduced expenditures, innovative solutions through technology and optimal use of raw materials, despite the drop in oil prices and the downturn in global markets. He stressed that Sabic is built on strong financial foundations and is capable of weathering the challenges, however difficult they may be.
