Aliaga—State Oil Co. of Azerbaijan (Socar) has received a $212-million project finance loan from Turkish Akbank to help fund the development of the Petiim container terminal on the Aegean Sea (PCN, 28 July 2014, p 3). The loan will finance the design, engineering, construction, commissioning and procurement of the project, which will for the first time in Turkey enable the berthing of ships with 11,000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) and have a starting capacity of 1.5-million TEUs.
