摘要

Brussels— Bioforever (bio-based products from forestry via economically viable European routes), a consortium of 14 European companies, began a demonstration project on 1 Sept. for the conversion of woody biomass to value adding chemical building blocks. The project, which will run for three years, is expected to demonstrate the feasibility of converting the biomass, including waste wood, to lignocellulosic feedstocks and then to chemicals such as butanol, ethanol and furandicar-boxylic acid, on an industrial scale.
