Tokyo-JX Nippon Oil & Energy has developed a new type of elastomer, which is easy to process, and combines the elasticity of rubber and the cost-competitiveness of plastic, reported Nikkei Asian Review. Previous grades lacked flexibility and elasticity, pushing the company to improve the feedstock mix. The new elastomer can be produced in large quantities at low cost and is more environmentally friendly.
