Baton Rouge— Indorama Ventures (IVL) has received an air permit from U.S. authorities for its planned refurbishment and restart of a dormant ethane cracker in Lake Charles, La. (PCN, 28 Sept 2015, p 1). The joint venture cracker, owned 76% by IVL and 24% by Indorama, will have the capability to process both ethane and propane. It is expected to produce approximately 370,000 t/y of ethylene and 30,000 t/y of propylene. Ethylene from the cracker will be used as feedstock for mono-ethylene glycol.
