After a dip in September, Chinese crude steel production advanced moderately in October. Moreover, through the first ten months of 2009, output posted a double-digit increase year-on-year. In spite of firm domestic demand, a RMB200-250/tonne (29-37 dollars/tonne) increase in Chinese ferrosilicon prices since mid-November mostly can be attributed to the recent hike in local electricity prices.
