London—Shell has written down the value of its liquids-rich shale assets in the US by more than $2 billion and will look to sell some of them as it attempts to turn around the performance of its North American business. In a statement alongside it second quarter 2013 results, the company also said Thursday that it was completely dropping its medium-term oil and gas production forecast, and would concentrate instead on financial metrics and look to generate cashflow and value for its shareholders.
