Rio de Janeiro—Brazilian independent oil producer HRT Participacoes em Petroleo is on the acquisition hunt, looking to buy into existing oil and natural gas fields in Brazil to add to output from its offshore Polvo Field, CEO Milton Franke said Thursday. Snapping up additional production assets could be key to HRT’s future survival and investment plans, given that falling output at Polvo during the first few months of this year “indicates that Polvo is in slow decline,” Franke said during a conference call with analysts.
