摘要

The current difficulty in measuring the viscosity andthermodynamic properties of deeply supercooled water hasled to a variety of conjectures on its structural change. Manyof these have been supported by less relevant studies ofchemically impure water in biological materials and of"pure" water in nanoconfinement. Soper' discussed how ex-trapolation, interpolation, and untested combination of prese-lected data had been used to reach some of these conjectures.More recently, the heat capacity Cp of bulk water has beenassumed to be the same as that of water confined to nano-porous Si02 gel. On that basis, it has been conjectured thatsupercooled bulk water would show a broad X-type transitionat 225 K,2-4 resembling the X-type disorder-order transitionof binary metal alloys and the orientational transition of C60.
