It is well known that the electrical conductance of asingle-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) is twice the valueof the fundamental conductance quantum since in a SWCNTthere are two conductance channels and each channel con-tributes the value of the above quantum to the conductance(consider the spin degeneracy). In this note, we will deducethe aforementioned result by employing a method radicallydifferent from the current literature. Our method is veryworthwhile by itself and is also extrapolable to study thequantum transport in other nanostructures 1 4 under ballisticor at least quasiballistic regime.5-7 In fact, we shall utilize astanding-wave approach relative to a quantum box transver-sal to the axis of a given SWCNT.
