摘要

Afield experiment was laid out during kharif2005 and 2006 with 20 genotypes and three replications in a randomized block design at Regional Agricultural Research Station, Lam in black cotton soils under rainfed conditions to screen the entries suitablefor rainfed conditions and also to identify the entries having drought tolerance traits forJiirther utilization in breeding programme. The results of the study indicated that the cotton genotypes possessing higherRWC (Relative Water Content), Chlorophyll stability index (CSI) and specific leaf weight (SLW) produced higher yields under rainfed conditions. The entries viz.,SSB5, L 763 andNSPHH8 werefound as drought tolerant genotypes with higher productivity coupled with drought tolerant traits under moisture stress conditions and the entries viz.,NSPHH8, NSPHH13, ARBHH430, RAH3 and L763 having more than two drought tolerant traits can be comfortably used in future breeding programme for drought tolerance.
