Generation mean analysis involving Jive generations viz., parents (P_1 and P_2, hybrid (F_1) and their progeny (F_2 and F_3) of interspecific cross doubled {G. arboreum x G. anomahim} x G. barbadense was used to study the inheritance of seed cotton yield and its components in cotton. The estimates of C and D Scaling test for 14 characters indicated that both the scales were significant for all the traits except plant height and boll diameter for which only C test was significant. Both additive and dominance type of genetic effects were significant in all the characters except monopodia. The additive x additive (i) and dominance x dominance (I) gene interaction were significant for all the characters. Out of 14 traits analyzed the positive and significant magnitude of dominance x dominance gene interaction effect was observed for plant height, number of sympodia, boll number, seed index, lint weight, ginning percentage, seed cotton yield, locule and green boll damage percentage. It was revealed thatduplicate gene interaction was presefit in all the characters. The results suggest that the selection for the traits would be more fruitful if selection is delayed till dominance component is reduced due to selfing.
