Incidence and damage caused by pink boll worm (PB W) on Bt hybrids like MRC 6301, JK Durga Bt, Fusion Bt, Dr Brent BG-II, Ajeet 155 BG-II, RCH 2 Bt, RCH 20 Bt and non Bt hybrids and varieties grown under rain fed and irrigated conditions at Nagpur andCoimbatore were observed during 2011 -2012. Under rain fed conditions, recovery of PB W larvae was maximum at 160 DAS on AKH 8828 and PA255. Incidence of PBW and locule damage was absent on MRC 6301, Fusion Bt, Dr. Brent BG-II, and Ajeet 155 BG-II. Maximum percent locule damage was observed on PA 255 at 145 DAS (44.54%) and AKH 8828 (31.20%). Maximum number of mines was observed on PA 255 (4.25/ 30 green bolls) and AKH 8828 (3.86/30 green bolls). Lowest and insignificant mine numbers were observed on MRC 6301, (0.71/30 green bolls), Dr. Brent BG-II (0.83/ 30 green bolls), Fusion Bt (0.00/30 green bolls) and Ajeet 155 BG-II (0.00/ 30 green bolls). Highest number of exit holes caused by PBW were on AKH 8828(1.42/30 green bolls) followed by PA 255 (1.21/30 green bolls). Under irrigated situation, RCH 2 non Bt (NBt) recorded highest mean number of exit holes, damaged locules, warts, surviving larvae and percentage of locule damage followed by RCH 20 Bt and RCH 2 Bt. In general Bt hybrids recorded minimumor no infestation of P.gossypiella as compared to NBt hybrids both in rainfed and irrigated conditions.
