The study conducted to investigate the influence of storage temperature and seed treatments on viability of cotton cv. LRA5166 under storage, revealed that germination, seedling root and shoot length, dry matter and vigour index decreased with advancement in storage period. However, the magnitude of decrease was noted less in seeds treated with carrier based cultures of Pseudomonas fluorescence, Trichoderma viride or carbendazim, than untreated seeds at each level of storage temperature. The seeds stored at -32°C maintained seed viability 15%, significantly higher across ambient storage observed for 16 months. Among seed treatments Pseudomonas fluorescence @ 4g kg ' and carbendazim treatment @ 2 g kg ' maintained significantly high seed viability throughout the storage period. Seeds treated with Trichoderma viridie @ 4g kg ’ of seed recorded the viability of 81 % which was on par with Psuedomonas fluorescence @ 4g kg ' (80%) but significantly superior to untreated seeds. At -32°C storage environment the initial population of 32 xlO^cfu of Trichoderma viridie was reduced to 5.5 xlO^cfu after six months and further reduced to 7.5 x lO'cfu after sixteen months. On the other hand population of 96 x lO^cfu Pseudomonas fluorescence stored at -32°C and 5°C could not be traced after six months. However, significantly less viability was detected at 20°C and ambient storage. The interactive effect of storage temperature and seed treatments was not significant. Similar observation was recorded for root growth, shoot growth and dry matter of seedling. However, seedling vigour was noticed significantly high at the storage environment of 20°C.
