Superhydrophobic and superoleophilic MnWO_4:Dy~(3+) microbouquets were successfully fabricated via a facile hydrothermal process. The surface morphologies and chemical composition were investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray powder diffraction (XRD). The wettability of the as-synthesized MnWO_4:Dy~(3+) microbouquet film was studied by measuring the water contact angle (CA). A static CA for water of 165° and a very low sliding angle (SA) were observed, which were closely related to both the MnWO_4:Dy~(3+) microbouquet structure and chemical modification. Furthermore, the as-prepared MnWO_4:Dy~(3+) surface showed superhydrophobicity for some corrosive liquids such as aqueous basic and salt solutions.
