The CRU Cable Index shows that the gap has narrowed between cables with copper conductors andthose with aluminium conductors. A month ago, the gap between copper power unarmoured cableand aluminium power unarmoured cable was 23 index points. In August, this narrowed to 15 indexpoints. The narrowing of the gap was mainly the result of a fall in copper prices for August which caused theindex for all copper conductor cables to fall six points and an increase in aluminium prices, whichmoved indices for aluminium conductor cables up by two index points.
