The seaweed Turbinaria conoides was col-lected from the east seashore of the south India. The driedseaweeds were converted into fine powder, mixed with ac-etone, and their antibacterial substance was extracted. Theextracted substance was characterized by the use of Fou-rier transform infrared spectroscopy and ultraviolet–visiblespectroscopy for functional group identification.
