China occupied more than a half of Vietnamese import market in 2014, having squeezed out other large suppliers thanks to the flexible pricing policy and a lack of restricting measures. According to data provided by Vietnam’s General Department of Customs, steel imports reached 11.9 million t in 2014, with Chinese material accounting for 6.3 million t (+81%). As a result, China won a 53.4% share in Vietnam’s market, pressing other large exporters, such as Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and India.
